Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to promote healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions.

Shockwaves are high-energy sound waves that stimulate healing processes by increasing blood vessel growth, promoting tissue regeneration, and reducing inflammation. The therapy is applied directly to the affected area, where the shockwaves penetrate the tissue and encourage cellular repair.

We use the Softwave shockwave device which provides non focused shockwaves through a parabolic sound head making the treatments more comfortable and larger surface areas can be treated with less shocks required.

Shockwave therapy is commonly used for tendinitis/tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, wound care, shoulder pain, muscle strains and chronic pain conditions such as myofascial pain syndromes and fibromyalgia.

Shockwave is especially helpful in the treatment of pelvic pain and pelvic syndromes like incontinence and erectile dysfunction or arousal disorders in women, disorders of skin and connective tissue (lichen sclerosis and scarring).
